Alabama- A resolution was briefly discussed in early 2007 but no action was taken. Rep. Cam Ward
has agreed to introduce a Resolution in the upcoming 2008 Session. We are currently creating effective legislation and
will be seeking cosponsors.
• It is extremely difficult to pass any type of legislation in the State of Alabama. (Particularly with the Alabama
Senate.) A truly proactive bill will require about 3 months preparation. As a state's rights issue, there are opportunities
for states to re-assert some of their power. Seventeen states have passed legislation rejecting REAL ID, creating a situation
where nation-wide implementation is nearly impossible. we intend to expand that list to twenty five states!
